Wrath of the Righteous is not a game for everyone, and somehow that’s become an excuse for people to pretend it doesn’t have glaring issues. Yes, the story is solid. Yes, there’s a ton of replayability. The writing is generally strong (a bit cringe in places, but nowhere near the juvenile tone you see in plenty of other RPGs). So, on the narrative side, it does its job.

The gameplay, however, is a mixed bag of baffling decisions. I’ve played this across multiple difficulty settings, and the higher you go, the more obvious it becomes that the design leans heavily on lazy stat inflation. Entire classes, builds, and choices become effectively useless. “Increased difficulty” mostly means the AI cheats (and it cheats a lot). It stops feeling like a challenge and starts feeling like you’re doing unpaid QA work on a spreadsheet. The difficulty is wildly inconsistent, too. You can melt half a dungeon without breaking a sweat, then slam into a boss that takes over an hour unless you already know the exact meta setup the game expects you to know. People will tell you to “prepare and buff before fights,” but honestly… how is that fun? How is it enjoyable when the game practically pushes you into save‑scumming and metagaming?

In my experience, this game is genuinely enjoyable only on the lower difficulties. Anything above that becomes a chore disguised as a challenge. That said, it’s not a bad game. I’ve played RPGs, Pathfinder, D&D, and the rest for years, and there’s a lot here for fans. But if you’re not already invested in this kind of system, it might feel like a waste of money. Either way, this is absolutely not worth full price, get it only if it's on sale.
