The pacing can feel slow at the beginning. I even dropped the game about an hour in during my first attempt. It takes time before the story starts to connect, but once it does, you’re left with a deeply emotional, character-driven narrative.

What makes the story unique is that it’s told in reverse, moving from later memories to earlier ones. It’s not a format you often see, and it can make the emotional context harder to grasp at times, since you’re constantly rebuilding meaning from fragments of a life you’re stepping backward through. That fragmentation is also part of what makes the ending hit as hard as it does (I cried).

I discovered this when I asked Chatgpt what the most depressing games of all time were and needless to say, I have never felt this much emotion from a game ever in my life. To the Moon is short and sweet, filled to the brim with a bittersweet story that hits all right places, and a beautiful soundtrack that fits in perfectly with every scene. Being a 2D story-heavy game, gameplay wise, there isn't much but you shouldn't care if you want to play this.

10/10 cried at the end

Very well-written and emotional story. I feel a little conflicted about the ending since I think it's meant to be happy but it feels very bittersweet to me. I like the game though and I recommend it.
