The Painter Boss Paradise update would have been fine if they didn't make gameplay changes.
The Behemoth decided to take a 16 year old game and start making completely unnecessary changes. Here are a couple that are glaring:

- The z-axis hitbox change is abysmal. They nearly doubled the range of attacks on the z-axis, making your attacks hit basically everything around you no matter what. On top of that most of the bosses in the game don't even receive the z-axis change and you attack them, but when they attack YOU the z-axis change is in effect. So they super buffed most of the bosses in the game, even ruining some strategies.

- They completely removed the Green Knight backflip. I was under the assumption that they would keep the backflip animation but change the frame data to be the same as the regular twirl, but no they completely got rid of it with no option to get it back without modding.

- If you kill an enemy that is using a tornado on insane mode, enemies in subsequent waves will do 999 damage with the tornado.

- Auto potions in singleplayer. This one isn't so bad but it is a slipperly slope. Having these changes be toggleable would make the update tolerable.

Personally, I will never play the vanilla game again as it has been killed by the update. Modded is completely fine though since you can revert all the changes.

Played this game when I was little and I loved getting on it almost all the time leveling up my little knight, was always a fire knight. As of today I redownloaded it without any of my old saves because I accidentally deleted all of my progress. played it with some friends and omg the nostalgia I faced, and the overall joy I had playing. highly suggest you give this game a try, if you find yourself not doing enough damage just level up a bit! The game is AMAZING with friends to play with(although the game difficulty scales with how many players there are!), or even play alone if you just want to grind out the story as a sole knight on your journey!
