Hurts to say this, but I cannot recommend the game at its current state.

Technically speaking, the game is in one of its best states yet. It plays well and it runs well. Design-wise though, it's at an all time low.

Let's start off with the most egregious problem: the matchmaking. It is trash. Over a year ago, Crytek decided that sweats and cheaters should have free reign to seal club the rest of the player base. This creates a situation where most lobbies consist of one sweat team with the rest of the teams serving as cannon fodder for that team.

If you are in the 6 star bracket, prepare for match after match where you don't even get the opportunity to play, because you are instantly headshot the moment your moustache is out of cover.

The other issue is continuously pushing the game to be more and more ratty. Scopes are too represented and visual clarity is gradually worsening. Most of the time, you will have to be pixel hunting to find out where the shooter is. If they are hiding, you will most likely get headshot before you even find them. Crytek added a trait [Blast Sense] so that you can immediately find out where shots are coming from, but that's just a bandaid. I'm playing a ****ing FPS, not a hidden object game. Hunters are barely visible unless they are moving, which means camping is the most effective tactic by far, leading to boring matches. You are actively punished for playing the damn game.

And on the subject of scopes, they completely break the flow of the game. If you are fighting at distance without a sniper/deadeye, there's almost no reason to fight people if you know they have scopes. Scopes are just such a massive advantage, I don't even know why they put so many snipers in a wild west shooter. Such a stupid decision. Used to be that you could at least ATTEMPT to push into them [often the snipers would just run away somewhere else] but now that doesn't even help you, due to the problem I'm gonna talk about next which is:

Quartermaster trait. I do not understand why Crytek is so unwilling to deal with completely unbalanced gameplay aspects. Quartermaster being one of the worst offenders. It costs so little, you can start every match with it, even with a lvl 1 hunter. It's one of the strongest traits in the game. With the prevalence of quartermaster, you can't even push snipers anymore, because now they get to bring a pocket shotgun every match. So, where previously you had loadouts with advantages and disadvantages, you get to have the best of both worlds! Just bring a sniper AND a shotgun. Just another stupid design decision by the geniuses in the design team

If you want a game where you are a seal to be clubbed by the sweaty/cheating players, by all means buy this game. Because the moment you reach an ok-ish level of competence in the game, you WILL be throw into the 6 star bracket and then you WILL become a punching bag. If dying repeatedly to players with 4.3 KDA isn't your idea of fun, I'd suggest staying away

Too many cheaters and ping abusers as of late, tired of it, people dont even hide it either
