I went into Medieval Dynasty expecting a cozy medieval village builder with survival elements, and for most of my playtime the game absolutely delivered. For a long time this was easily an 11/10 experience for me.

The gameplay loop is incredibly satisfying. You start with nothing and slowly build a living settlement with houses, farms, production chains, animals, and villagers who work and live in the town you create. Watching your systems come together and your village grow into a functioning community is extremely rewarding.

There is always something meaningful to work toward: unlocking technologies, expanding your village, optimizing production, starting a family, and raising your heir. The music and atmosphere are also fantastic, which is really important to me in cozy simulation games like this. The soundtrack makes the world feel peaceful and immersive while you build and manage your village.

However, the main storyline unfortunately brought the experience down for me.

The mystery around your uncle is built up throughout the game and feels like it’s leading to an important reveal. Instead, the ending felt very abrupt and underdeveloped. After investing time into the story, the resolution came quickly and without much player involvement, which made it feel disappointing.

Because the gameplay is so strong, the weak ending stood out even more.

That said, Medieval Dynasty is still an excellent village simulation game if you enjoy building systems, growing a settlement, and creating your own story through gameplay. I would absolutely love to see a DLC or future update that expands the story, because the world and characters have a lot of potential.

The village-building, progression, and atmosphere are fantastic — I just wish the story had received the same level of care.

Really enjoyable game with a lot of different facets to it, finding all the things you can do was a big part of the fun for me. The graphics are great and there were a few points where it was very visually striking, it did make my PC's cooling work overtime to do so though.

Building your village and unlocking the various buildings was a lot of fun and planning out where things would eventually go kept it interesting. I played the story game mode rather than the sandbox in order to act as a bit of a tutorial which I think was definitely the right choice.

The only thing I will say is that after your village basically becomes self-sufficient things can get a bit dry after a while, though sitting back and watching what you've built is still pleasing. A bit more depth in your village, e.g. villagers demanding higher quality clothes/food or building weapons/defences to fend off attacks, would have helped to make the end game a bit more dynamic.

Regardless, I would definitely recommend the game to anyone who enjoys survival-crafting games or historical city building games!
