The Red Reef

• The Tortugan questline continues with a new, Experienced level quest: the Red Reef!
• Start the quest by talking to Elder Raley, found in the south east house of the Summer Shore.
• Requires Troubled Tortugans, Level 52 Sailing and 48 Smithing.
• Bosun's Bench has been added to the game:
• It's a new boat facility that allows your crew to automatically make repairs for you.
• Requires Level 63 Sailing and Level 54 Construction.
• Materials needed to build:
• 6 Camphor Planks
• 24 Adamantite Nails
• 2 Lead Bars
• Bosun's Bench Schematic, unlocked by completing the Red Reef quest

More Sailing Buffs and Changes

• Added two new cannonballs with their own unique mechanics:
• Chainshot cannonballs specialise in slowing enemy movement:
• They have the effect of halving movement speed on enemy targets for 5 seconds, while dealing the same damage as regular cannonballs do without the chain.
• 2 respective cannonballs combined with a chain produces 2 Chainshot cannonballs of the same type, that can be fired twice separately.
• You can create Chainshot cannonballs up to Rune by smithing chains from Steel bars, then combining them with cannonballs at an anvil.
• Incendiary cannonballs are designed to apply burn damage over time:
• Enemies at sea will be set ablaze when shot by these cannonballs and take damage over time.
• This burn effect will ignore any flat armour bonuses, making it a noticeable DPS increase over time.
• 2 respective cannonballs combined with a chain produces 2 Chainshot cannonballs of the same type, that can be fired twice separately.
• You can create Incendiary cannonballs up to Rune by mining Rubium splinters (from the Charred Island Dungeon), then combining them with cannonballs at an anvil.
• Introduced two new resources:
• Rubium Splinters: requires Level 48 Mining, can be mined from Rubium Rocks, tradeable
• Rubium Geodes: requires Level 68 Mining, can be mined from Rubium Deposit, untradeable
• Rubium Geodes can be broken down into Rubium Splinters by using a hammer and a chisel.
• Added an auto-retaliate setting for cannons when your boat is attacked by enemies at sea.
• You can enable and disable this setting under the Combat Options tab, just like you do for weapons. It's set to be on by default.
• When enabled, any cannon that you're locked into will automatically fire back at hostile sea creatures that attack you.
• With auto-retaliate, there will be a short delay before the cannon responds, ensuring that actively targeting creatures yourself will always be the most efficient option.
• You can now change the colour of your boat's sails with the new range of sail cosmetics: Black, Blue, Green, Pink, Purple, Red and Yellow.
• You can unlock Sail customisation at Level 41 Sailing.
• Each of the solid-colour sails can be created using 10 of the matching dye, in the Shipyard.
• The Medallion of the Deep now functions as breathing apparatus throughout the Fossil Island underwater areas.
• Within the underwater Agility/Thieving area, it will reduce oxygen depletion by 80%, as polled.
• Sailing XP from Deep Sea Trawling has been buffed, now giving roughly double the XP compared to before:
• XP from Rope trawling net has been increased from 4 XP to 7 XP
• XP from Linen trawling net has been increased from 5 XP to 9 XP
• XP from Hemp trawling net has been increased from 6 XP to 11 XP
• XP from Cotton trawling net has been increased from 8 XP to 15 XP
• Reduced your character's gather rate from 4 ticks to 3 ticks. This keeps the more engaging 2 tick method alive for those who love it, while making things feel smoother and more rewarding for players who prefer a more relaxed playstyle.
• Baited shoals now correctly increase your catch by 20%, allowing you to get more fish in your nets.
• Added right-click Last Boat option to the Teleport to Boat spell, which lets you quickly return to the boat you last teleported to.
• Added right-click Last Boat option to the Summon Boat spell, which will summon the boat you last summoned.

Other Changes

• Lowered the Obelisk’s base Hitpoints on the Path of Het in Tombs of Amascut from 122 to 119. This means players with 85+ Mining will no longer occasionally fail to defeat it in a single cycle, even with tick-perfect timing.
• Fixed a bug where Partner slayer did not correctly enforce the "15 shared tasks" requirement.
• Revenant Cave Teleport Scrolls now have a ‘Drop’ option on their mini-menu and can be dropped on the ground.
• You can once again access the Waterfall Dungeon without a rope, provided you meet the requirements.
• Probita no longer gives extra copies of Gull to players who have Gulliver in their menageries.
• Resolved a range of Z-buffer issues across the game:
• Sir Tiffy Cashien's sitting animation has been corrected.
• Resolved various graphical issues in the Gauntlet and Corrupted Gauntlet: corrected floor clipping, the Oven model, Hunllef visual effects (including Corrupted and Echo variants), and fishing pools.
• Fixed clipping issues with rugs and carpets.
• Fixed flickering issues in the Lassar Undercity.
• Patched a clipping issue with skull tunnel cavities containing elemental blocks during the While Guthix Sleeps quest.
• Fixed some clipping issues in the Tormented Demons area, Stronghold of Security and the Battlefield.
• Adjusted the sizes of some crates in Monkey Madness II to prevent clipping.
• The Windmill basement ladder in Harmony Island is no longer blocked by terrain.
• The Occult Altar in the Player-Owned House no longer clips through the wall and the roof.
• The board of the Tool Store 5 no longer clips into the wall.
• The Man Trap no longer clips into the floor in the dungeon of the Player-Owned House.

Brace yourself for some pirate ship encounters that you must overcome along the way! Please note that deaths during boat-to-boat combat are not considered safe for HCIM players. If your boat sinks, your character will remain safe, however, if your player character dies while aboard the ship, it will count as a dangerous death. Be careful out there! We also suggest having at least 65 combat level to defeat any pesky enemies you may encounter as you embark on this quest.

Bosun's Bench is a new boat facility that allows your crew to automatically make repairs for you. When a crewmate or player is assigned to this facility, they will periodically repair your boat whenever healing is needed without overhealing it. The facility consumes repair kits stored in your Cargo Hold while still benefiting from your crew's Deckhandiness stats.

To reduce excess clicking during boat combat, we've added an auto-retaliate setting for cannons when your boat is attacked by enemies at sea. It's set to be on by default, and you can enable and disable this setting under the Combat Options tab, just like you do for weapons.

You can now change the colour of the your boat's sails with the new range of sail cosmetics:

• Black
• Blue
• Green
• Pink
• Purple
• Red
• Yellow

You can unlock Sail customisation at Level 41 Sailing and each of the solid-colour sails can be created using 10 of the matching dye. As with all boat customisation, you can change the colour of your sails in the Shipyard - simply go to the newly added Sail Pattern tab under the Boat Customisation Interface.

Sport your love for pink with your sails or match the colour of your sails to your boat's trim - add a personal touch to your boat and set sail in style! This is just the first step in boat customisation, laying the groundwork for even more customisation options in the future! Previously, the Sailing XP from Deep Sea Trawling was too low for how demanding it is. To address this, Sailing XP from Deep Sea Trawling has been buffed - now giving roughly double the XP compared to before:

• XP from Hemp trawling net has been increased from 6 XP to 11 XP

Sailing Improvements

• Mapped various solo spawns of high-level seaborne creatures, such as Vampyre Krakens, Armoured Krakens and Great White Sharks.
• The drop rates of Clue Scrolls from Sailing creatures are now buffed by ~5% for those who completed the Combat Achievements.
• Horn of Plenty tweaks:
• Toggling double catches off now correctly applies the invisible Hunter boost.
• Hunter animals that always trigger the Horn of Plenty's double catch - such as Tecu salamanders - will no longer trigger it if the double catch toggle is off.
• Toggling double catches off will no longer consume charges as if it is on and not giving double loot.
• Horn of Plenty now consumes a charge every 25 catches rather than having a 1/25 chance to consume it. Also, double catches will consume only one charge as mentioned above.
• The Horn of Plenty’s double catch effect now works with crab traps, including Red, Blue, and Rainbow crabs.
• In the Shipyard, you can now use the side panel to move the facilities up or down the menu. This lets you customise the menu layout for you (and your player passengers) when you're on board.
• Created a distinction between boostable facility types as 'Active' and 'Support' facilities (details down the blog). Active facilities will always ask you to meet the required Sailing level to use, while Support facilities can be permanently used once built via boost, without needing to reboost your Sailing level. Sails are a special case - Captains can keep using boosted-built sails, but other players must still meet the level requirement.
• Added extra functionality to the 'Special Attack' button whilst you're on a boat (and attached to the Helm), allowing you to release Wind Motes.
• Sorting any salvage now has a small chance of dropping the Sailing pet, Soup.
• Fish gained from Deep Sea Trawling (Krill, Haddock, Yellowfin, Halibut, Marlin, Bluefin) will now appear more vibrant when cooked. Credit to the RuneLite 'Food Colouring' plug-in creator and the community for the inspiration and feedback!
• Likewise, lighting of coral patches were slightly adjusted to be brighter.
• Sailing items are now unblocked from Death's Coffer as their prices have now stabilised.
• The Boat Bottle indicator no longer gets hidden in the Shipyard interface.
• The Facility Bottle will now correctly ask if you want to discard the contents of your Cargo Hold if you choose to modify it on a raft.
• Fixed a bug where lighting a fire with a Shortbow using Rosewood, Ironwood and Camphor logs was giving more XP than with a Tinderbox.
• Fixed a bug that caused boat customisation to fail when a player had only one boat with a Greater Teleport Focus and summoned it to a port.

Gem Bag Expansion

• Released a series of new gem container options for semi-precious gems (Opal, Jade and Red Topaz) that you can level up as you progress: Gem Pouch, Gem Satchel, Gem Tote and Gem Sack.
• Gem Pouch - Requires Level 12 Crafting. Combine Bolt of Linen, Thread and Silk to make a pouch which stores 5x Opal, Jade and Red Topaz.
• Gem Satchel - Requires Level 39 Crafting. Combine a Bolt of Canvas, Thread, Silk and Gem Pouch to make a satchel which stores 10x Opal, Jade and Red Topaz.
• Gem Tote - Requires Level 81 Crafting. Combine Bolt of Cotton, Thread, Silk and Gem Satchel to make a tote which stores 20x Opal, Jade and Red Topaz.
• Gem Sack - Requires Level 81 Crafting. Combine Gem Tote, Gem Bag and Immaculate Moleskin to make a sack 60x of all uncut gems up to Dragonstone.
• Added a new resource, Immaculate Moleskin, dropping at a rate of 1 in 50 from the Giant Mole and can be used to create the Gem Sack.
• Introduced an optional instance encounter at the Giant Mole for a price of 25,000 GP.
• Players who have completed the Hard tier Combat Achievements will receive a reduced price of 12,500 GP.
• Also, the price is halved for Ironman accounts, reducing the cost to either 12,500 GP or 6,250 GP for those who have completed the Hard Combat Achievements.

Leagues VI Changes

• Both Heavy and Light Ballista weapons now benefit from the node that says "While a crossbow is equipped, you have a +15% chance to trigger Ranged echoes".
• The Fire Spell pact's burn effect now also applies to enemies in single-way combat areas.
• Sage's axe now properly works on Moons of Peril.
• Killing any Wallasalki should now complete the "Defeat a Wallasalki" task.
• The Banker's Briefcase now includes the teleports to the deposit boxes introduced with Sailing.
• Resolved a graphical issue that occurred when Echo boots and King's barrage were equipped.

Other Changes

• Hunter meat from the following animals will now appear more vibrant when cooked, similar to the Trawling Fish mentioned in the Sailing section:
• Wild Kebbit
• Larupia
• Bard-tailed Kebbit
• Graahk
• Kyatt
• Pyre Fox
• Dashing Kebbit
• Sunlight Antelope
• Moonlight Antelope
• The Keris Partisan of the Sun's healing effect now works on all scarabs during the Kephri fight in Tombs of Amascut.
• The Accursed Sceptre's special attack now correctly works on the enemies in Chambers of Xeric.
• The Large Orrery is now using the correct animation.
• Fixed an issue where some bear cubs were occupying 2x2 tile spaces despite fitting in a tile.
• Resolved a graphical issue that occurred when King's barrage was equipped alongside Echo boots or Mixed hide boots.

Earlier this week, we shared a blog[secure.runescape.com] with you outlining our plans on various Sailing buffs and changes based on your feedback. Some of these changes were intended to go out as soon as they're ready, and today we’re bringing you a set of them. You can expect more improvements in the coming weeks, including next week - alongside the launch of the new Sailing quest, The Red Reef. Also, Mods Light, Ash, Kieren and Husky answered all your questions on this topic in a livestream this Monday, make sure to check it out here!

For now, let's dive into what's changed with this particular update...

• We've mapped various solo spawns of high-level seaborne creatures, such as Vampyre Krakens, Armoured Krakens and Great White Sharks. You’ll now find isolated versions of these creatures positioned a fair distance away from the main packs. This doesn't mean we've made combat to be single-way in these areas, however, you'll now have a better time bullying them without several of them attacking you at once.
• The drop rates of Clue Scrolls from Sailing creatures are now buffed by ~5% for those who completed the Combat Achievements.

While you're in the Shipyard, you can now rearrange the order of the facility buttons in your boat's side panel. This allows you to customise the side panel layout for your preference, preventing important facilities from being buried further down the panel. For example, you can place your most frequently used facilities in an easy to reach spot, put the buttons of your two cannon next to each other, and to move the less frequently used facilities to the bottom. You can see the ability to reorder these facility buttons in action below:

This means you no longer have to scroll further down the side panel for your most frequently-used facilities, making interactions with them more convenient.



This one is for Sailors who used a boost for their Sailing level in order to build a boat facility. If you've gone out of your way to build a facility by using a boost, you should be able to continue using that without too much extra hassle.

With this in mind, we've created a distinction between facility types to clarify which ones are safe to use below the intended level.

• "Active" facilities - Provide direct gameplay advantages or are repeatedly used during core Sailing gameplay.

• "Support" facilities - Less frequently used

'Active' facilities will always require you to meet the Sailing level required to use. On the other hand, 'Support' facilities do not require you to meet their requirements once built, so you're free to boost your Sailing level to create them and you don't need to maintain the boost to use them.

There is one exception: Sails. If you've boosted your level requirement to create new Sails, you as the Captain can use them without needing to boost again. However, other players on your boat cannot do so and need to meet the level requirement.

• By popular demand from the Sailing opinion poll, we've added extra functionality to the 'Special Attack' button whilst you're on a boat (and attached to the Helm), allowing you to release Wind Motes. Have fun zooming across Gielinor!
• Sorting any salvage now has a small chance of dropping the Sailing pet, Soup.
• Fish gained from Deep Sea Trawling (Krill, Haddock, Yellowfin, Halibut, Marlin, Bluefin) will now appear more vibrant when cooked. Credit to the RuneLite 'Food Colouring' plug-in creator and the community for the inspiration and feedback!
• Likewise, lighting of coral patches were slightly adjusted to be brighter.
• Sailing items are now unblocked from Death's Coffer as their prices have now stabilised.

• The Boat Bottle indicator no longer gets hidden in the Shipyard interface.
• The Facility Bottle will now correctly ask if you want to discard the contents of your Cargo Hold if you choose to modify it on a raft.
• Fixed a bug where lighting a fire with a Shortbow using Rosewood, Ironwood and Camphor logs was giving more XP than with a Tinderbox.
• Fixed a bug that caused boat customisation to fail when a player had only one boat with a Greater Teleport Focus and summoned it to a port.

Early April this year, we shared our proposals on Gathering quality of life improvements in this poll blog[secure.runescape.com]. Gem bag expansion was an eagerly-awaited one among them, and it has now arrived! We've added a series of new gem container options for semi-precious gems (Opal, Jade and Red Topaz) that you can level up as you progress towards the brand new Gem Sack: Gem Pouch, Gem Satchel, Gem Tote and Gem Sack.

P.S. For creating the new gem containers, you can use the needle, thread, silk, bolts of canvas or cotton on the previous gem containers.

As you can see above, those resources you've been gaining from Sailing - such as linen, hemp and cotton seeds - are sure to come in handy here.

Some notes:

• If you have a Gem Bag or a Gem Sack, you can't buy another Gem Bag from shops.
• You can't get a lower version of the gem container you own, but you can create a higher tier one using the gem container you have.
• Since Gem Sack is the highest tier, if you have a Gem Sack, you can't craft any other gem containers.
• Gems stored in the previous container are retained in the upgraded one upon crafting.

You'll also notice that the final upgrade, the Gem Sack, requires some Immaculate Moleskin, dropping at a rate of 1 in 50 from the Giant Mole.

Additionally, since the Giant Mole may get a little busier with this update, we've added an optional instance encounter at the Giant Mole for a price of 25,000 GP. Players who have completed the Hard tier Combat Achievements will receive a reduced price of 12,500 GP. Also, the price is halved for Ironman accounts, reducing the cost to either 12,500 GP or 6,250 GP for those who have completed the Hard Combat Achievements.

We're also seeing that the average account age and average account level of bots are decreasing, indicating that longer-standing and higher-level bots are being detected and removed from the game.
